Because our Greek Thomson Exhibition 22nd March – 12th April will be held in the John McLintock Hall and not in Balfron Library we’ll have to man it ourselves (in 2-hour slots) : Saturdays 10am – 4pm and weekdays 1pm -5pm.
We are looking for volunteers to supervise the Exhibition in 2-hour slots from 22nd March to 12th April : Saturday hours 10am-4pm and Weekdays 1pm-5pm. Supervision will be in pairs; so, you will always have someone with you. The Exhibition should be self-explanatory; so, no extra in-depth knowledge should be needed.
Welcome to a busy year for Balfron Heritage Group. Our first talk of this session will be on Thursday 13th February with speaker Paul Wilson from Gartmore Heritage.
This Christmas that’s aboot tae comeMay Santa Claus climb down yer lumAnd whether yer a laird or peasantWe hope he’ll leave a lovely present!(Poem style after Robert Burns [… WELL after Robert Burns!!]) We also hope you’ll take part in our exciting 2025 celebrations for Alexander “Greek” Thomson’s 150th anniversary.
Written by Jim Thomson for the recent joint BHG/Balfron Tea & Tunes Christmassy event, it was proposed that a copy should be put onto this page. It can be sung to any easy tune you please! [On the day, we used Alistair McDonald’s “Glesca Cat” tune.]
