What is the Balfron Heritage Group?
Balfron Heritage Group was founded in 1989 to organise and exhibition of the village’s past to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the building of Ballindalloch Cotton Works in 1790 – an event which transformed this sleepy Stirlingshire hamlet into a bustling village at the heart of the Industrial Revolution.
What does the Balfron Heritage Group do?
We research the history relevant to the village, including the people, buildings, industries and events that have shaped Balfron over the years.
We work with local community groups to commemorate significant events such as the 700th anniversary of the establishment of Balfron
We organise a series of talks and events for anyone interested in local history.
We work with local schools to educate about the local history, and the surrounding myths and legends.
We can help genealogists research their own family history, offering pointers of where to look and how to start.
