Tuesday saw the actual anniversary of the opening of Balfron Station on 26th May 1865. Balfron Heritage Group sent “birthday cards” to all of the hamlet’s residents and invited them to a photo-shoot at the bus shelter which has been turned into a railway display.

There was a great turnout including talented young Balfron Station golfer Adam Smith who took time out of his busy schedule. Even the “Station’s” oldest resident Jean Griffiths was represented by her daughter Lorna – all the way from Australia!
Some of the local children had made “170th” cupcakes for the evening; so, the celebration spanned all the generations. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BALFRON STATION!
